How to play

Build a Hooper is four decisions repeated until a ring: spin, draft skills, shape the player, then simulate. A full run takes 10–15 minutes.

1. Choose a mode

  • Classic — you pick your position, every player grade is visible, and you get 3 team rerolls. The full scouting experience.
  • Blind — your position is rolled, and grades stay hidden until the final reveal. Player knowledge and role fit matter more than numbers. 1 reroll.
  • Chaos — position and ratings hidden, and each round only offers a few open attributes, so the best answer is not always the obvious one. 1 reroll.

2. Spin teams, steal attributes

Each of the 13 attribute slots is filled by one draft round: a team-season is rolled, you pick one player from its roster, and you steal one attribute — that player's rating in it becomes yours. Current teams are the normal pull; classic teams like the '96 Bulls land as rare gold Special team-seasons with all-time ratings worth grabbing. The same real player can never be used twice in one run, even across different seasons.

3. Position weights decide your overall

Your overall is a weighted average — passing counts 17% for a PG but 5% for a C, interior defense 18% for a C but 2% for a PG. Stealing a 99 in a stat your position barely weighs is a wasted round. The full table is on the attributes page.

4. Simulate the season

A career team spin drops your hooper into a current roster. From there: 82 games (Sim 1, Sim 5, or a live GameCast), conference standings, the Play-In for seeds 7–10, and four best-of-seven playoff rounds. Elite builds chase MVP, DPOY, the scoring title, Finals MVP, triple-double streaks and the 40-achievement trophy case.

Quick tips

  • Draft for your position's top three weights first — the table is on the attributes page.
  • Special team-seasons carry the highest single ratings in the game. Don't waste them on low-weight attributes.
  • Clutch / IQ quietly boosts playoff performance — a 90+ CLU build wins close series more often.
  • Save rerolls for late rounds, when the open attributes are ones the rolled team is weak in.
